Book Buzz

I was reading over at Maysmom.com & found this debate Will you find genetalia in quality literature

I haven't read or ordered this book The Higher Power of Lucky, I don't have a 9-12 year old boy. I will in a couple of years & maybe by then I will.

I really think that the buzz is only going to make the book more popluar. My opinion is that if my school library doesn't have a problem with my 2nd grader reading Captain Underpants books (they are gross, over his head, but sometimes funny), at least he doesn't feel comfortable to read them by himself. So as long as I can skip over the nasty/gross/do we really need to give the boy that idea parts all is good!!!

Personally I don't feel offended at the mention of scrotum in a book geared towards 9-12 year olds...they have or will have sex ed in school at that age & should have had some from home as well. I have to wonder what the real issue is...it can't really be because the word scrotum was used twice can it??? That seems so lame.

(Especially since I know that a youth group leader friend was lamenting about having to keep an eye on the 9 year old girls because they were being pursued by & flirting with the 12 year old boys at their after school program).

This explains a lot...

C.A.A.D.D.

If you have been secretly wondering what is wrong with me, I now have the
answer... Recently, I was diagnosed with C. A. A. D. D.. (Child Activated Attention Deficit Disorder)

This is how it manifests:

I decide to do the laundry. As I start toward the basement, I notice that
there are cheerios all over the floor and my car keys are in the cereal
bowl. I decide to pick up the cheerios before I do the laundry. I lay my
car keys down on the counter, put the cheerios in the trash can under the
counter, and notice that the trash can is full. So, I decide to take out
the trash. But then I think, since I'm going to be near the mailbox when
I take out the trash I may as well pay the bills first. I take my
checkbook off the table, and see that there is only one check left, my
extra checks are in my desk in the office/playroom, so I go to my desk
where I find a sippy cup full of juice. I'm going to look for my checks,
but first I decide I should put the sippy cup in the refrigerator to keep
it cold.

As I head toward the kitchen with the sippy cup a vase of flowers on the
counter catches my eye - they need to be watered. I set the sippy cup on
the counter, and I discover baby wipes that I've been searching for all
morning. I decide I better put them back in the bathroom, but first I'm
going to water the flowers. I set the wipes back down and splash some
water on the flowers, but most of it spills on the floor. So, I get some
paper towels and wipe up the spill. Then I head down the hall trying to
remember what I was planning to do.

At the end of the day: the laundry isn't washed, the bills aren't paid,
there is a warm cup of juice sitting on the counter, the flowers aren't
watered and now they are wilting, there is still only one check in my
checkbook, the kids are screaming, I can't find the wipes, and I don't
remember what I did with the car keys. Then when I try to figure out why
nothing got done today, I'm really baffled because I know I was busy all
day long and I'm really tired.

Tackle it Tuesday

I am not sure what I am tackling today, probably a little of everything! I'd better stop hiding & get to it!

Probably start with vacuuming, then move to laundry & then onto the bathroom.

What 2004 hit song are you?

Ok, I am way to amused with the blogthing!!!

I Believe In a Thing Called Love by The Darkness

"I wanna kiss you every minute, every hour, every day
You got me in a spin but everythin' is A.OK!"

You played it cheesy and campy in 2004, but you know how to rock out.

Pass the torch Tuesday...I got nothin!

They have booth been ill & I am still in the middle of the home repair junk, so we have been very stressed here!

They are trying to get along, but it isn't working. So I am hiding in the office for a little while, they are watching TV & trying to share the couch...

At least the Prince can go back to school tomorrow, he should have today, but I didn't want to take a chance of him pooping out at school & having to come home (last time he was like this he took a 2 hour nap in the nurses office before she called & said your son is sick, cuz he never sits still let alone naps...).

So we are all just trying to get along here & dh is leaving this afternoon for a job interview...wonder if I can talk my Mom into taking the kids so I can escape with him...

I am walking with my sis tonight & we went shopping last night for a couple hours (first time I've been out of the house without dh or kids in weeks....). February cabin fever is starting to set in here!

Sorry to the Tackle it Tuesday crowd

Ok, so I have been visiting your sites leaving a link to my Pass the torch posts...duh... Sorry!!!

Pass The Torch Tuesday

This weeks link

My pass the torch this week is both of my kiddos who were so well behaved during our major emergency Wednesday Evening. The above pictures are my bedroom ceiling. The tenant who was living upstairs moved out & earlier had unhooked her washer & left the water supply lines on the floor. So 8:20 PM this is what was happening at my house! The Prince usually goes to bed at 8:30 but he stayed up (I was too busy to tuck him in, scrambling to find buckets, bowls, pans to catch the water, then to find where it was coming from).

When all was said & done I was only able to catch 2 gallons of water the rest went onto the bed & through the floor into the basement. It took 4 days for the bed to dry out & I am still doing the laundry.

The Prince & Princess played together, watched the rest of the movie we were watching before the rain came & for the most part stayed out of the way & didn't play in the mess. Bed time was only 1/2 an hour off & the Prince woke up early & got ready for school with no problems.

My tackle for today is the top of my dryer.

Well I got it all cleaned off, but I can't take a good after picture, because now all the salvagable ceiling tiles are on top of it (we are going to use them to replace the bathroom ceiling that has been gross since we moved in).

I will take a picture of it once the tiles are gone, then you'll be able to see how shiny clean it really is :D.

We were spotlighted!

It is sooooo coool! I was spotlighted by Pass the Torch for last weeks entry ! It is just so cool to be recognized for any reason, but to have it be for my awesome kiddos... I'm speechless! (Ok like that could ever really happen, I can always find something to say!) Thank you all!

Art - from a 7 year old

Just had to share. Before I go clean it off, now it has a permanent life on the interweb!

Weird & Wacky Wednesday!

Ok, so as I am folding laundry the Princess runs off with my Extreme Cleavage Full-Figure Bra from Frederick's of Hollywood & is running around the room wearing it as a vest... I should start a blog titled "adventures from planet what the...?" I wouldn't have to write a thing, just follow her around all day with the camera...

Well, I am off to preform my Anti procrastination Wednesday task, because I flaked on Tackle it Tuesday! I am doing laundry, putting away already washed & washing the pile I "forgot" was in the corner of the laundry room!

Pass The Torch Tuesday

Pass the Torch Tuesday

This is the Princess that insisted on hot chocolate and oatmeal for lunch! She wanted yogurt & an apple for breakfast over the already made french toast sticks. She will eat a pint of cherry tomatoes in a sitting if allowed. I have to take fruit and veggies away from her to wash them & because she has already eaten a ton (I don't want to find out what a pint of cherry tomatoes does to a potty training child!)... Cauliflower & Broccoli are better plain & microwaved (no cheese here).

Don't get me wrong she can put away her weight in chocolate, insists on dipping potato chips in sour cream & lives for mini marshmallows, even though she doesn't look like it.

Now if only I could get her to eat sitting at the table in a chair...

My tooth fairy pillow progress

I didn't get to the sewing machine yet but I did get to cut out the pillow & the appliques.

I am going to make a pillow for the back to hold the tooth & $. Obviously my Prince is a future hunter, so this is perfect for him! My Dad took him to the range & let him shoot a 22 shotgun, he got every shot in the center of the target, one bulls eye! ~Just a little proud of my guy!!! (To clarify, my father is a Pistol Permit Course instructor, Gun Dealer, Avid hunter & fully trained to use & teach the use of guns, so I didn't just let ds go off with a gun & a prayer!)

Again the pattern for the applique is from Little Wool Gatherings

I am going to sew today!

It is 5 degrees here with a wind chill of -12. so I am taking a small heater down with me, but the kiddos are gone for a while & I am going to get something accomplished!

DH got the basement area outside my room cleared up, everything put into storage that needed to be (fall & Christmas decor, empty boxes, & misc stuff...) So I am going to go & rearrange my room, since he stole my shelving unit (OK he had my permission) so now I have to go clear off my tables & put everything on the permanent shelves.

I'll try & get something done with picture!

Happy Sewing!

Feast One Hundred & Twenty Nine

Appetizer

What was one of the fashion fads when you were a teenager?

When I was a teenager, that would be 1986-1992, so the fashion was the 2 extremes of big hair, puffy pants, short skirts, glam rock, hair metal, morphing to plaid flannel, faded jeans & grunge music

Soup

Name one thing you think people assume about you when they first meet you.

I am not sure, I have been told by different people that it is different... Some say that I seem fun & outgoing & others have said that I come off snobbish, so I guess it's their perspective!

Salad

On a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being highest, how hard do you work?

10, but probably 8 1/2.

Main Course

If you were given a free 30-second commercial during the Super Bowl to sell anything you currently own, what would you advertise?

My HOUSE!!! with a minor plug about tossing in the hubby!

Dessert

Fill in the blank: I love to ________ when it is _________.

I love to party when it's the right time! And when isn't it the right time to party!!! The kiddos & I have been known to throw impromptu dance parties just cuz!!!
