Happy Mother's Day!

Hope everyone has a lovely day!

I really enjoyed the March & April fab shop hops! In March I won a $10 gift certificate to Heart of Dixie Quilt Shop. I used it to buy some of the "I Love you Zoo" fabric I'm going to use in the baby quilt I have to sew (soon, I don't know when they'll have the shower).

The next Hop starts June 1, if you like to browse fabric stores online this will be a blast (or very expensive!).

I also picked up a bunch of fabric at Wal-Mart this month. There is a nice brown with copper details that I bought enough of to make 4 dresses, and a green with black knit. Now I just have to find the right patterns, that's always the hard part for me. Cutting and committing to a pattern, even when I only paid $1.50 a yard, is not so easy a task for me! I don't have this problem with quilts or with clothes for the kids, just me. I have lots of stash fabric that I just haven't found "the right pattern" for. Anyone else have this issue? Or am I just whacky???

Yard Sale find & a Threadbangers video

My yard sale fabric find, $1 for about a bolt. It's going to be curtains for the front room/dinning room.

Cool Fashion show followed by a stippled t-shirt project done with the darning foot. This I could do, I love free motion, sew relaxing!!!

I can be found...

Since I am so obviously not sewing a cotton picking thing you can find me over at The Frugal Momma and Lisa's Cook Book.

What Lisa Means

You are relaxed, chill, and very likely to go with the flow.
You are light hearted and accepting. You don't get worked up easily.
Well adjusted and incredibly happy, many people wonder what your secret to life is.

You tend to be pretty tightly wound. It's easy to get you excited... which can be a good or bad thing.
You have a lot of enthusiasm, but it fades rather quickly. You don't stick with any one thing for very long.
You have the drive to accomplish a lot in a short amount of time. Your biggest problem is making sure you finish the projects you start.

You are the total package - suave, sexy, smart, and strong.
You have the whole world under your spell, and you can influence almost everyone you know.
You don't always resist your urges to crush the weak. Just remember, they don't have as much going for them as you do.

You are usually the best at everything ... you strive for perfection.
You are confident, authoritative, and aggressive.
You have the classic "Type A" personality.

The silence...

Can you hear the crickets chirping...
My poor lonely sewing machine. The only thing I have sewn on her is a wrist cuff for my brother so his jacket wouldn't interfere with his bow string during deer/bow season. I still have to change the needles on my serger.

I really need to get back into my creative mood, I wonder why I'm so tense, I haven't sewn in months, MONTHS people. Hubby wouldn't make it that long without, you know what... I need to go cut some fabric or something!

To ink or not to ink, that is my question...

So my younger sister has multiple tattoos. She isn't head to toe, or anything but as far as I know she is up to 5 individual tats. Each is significant to her. I know she is itching to get more & keeps bugging me to go with her for one.

My issue isn't the pain involved, hey at this point I feel more like Dalton from Roadhouse "Pain don't hurt"... It's more the question of what do I want on me FOREVER? It'll be there when I'm 80 & hangin' with my grandkids. I'm not sure how I'd feel if I found out Grandma has ink... strange.

I really want to do something that encompasses me & my kiddos, the constants in my life! I thought a snowflake would be perfect, some how work the kids names into it & honor our winter births. Of course my sister thinks it's "lame". My concern is it being interpreted as I am a cold flake...

She drew a fabulous tree that has the Princess's name in the branches, my only problem with that is it's only 1 kid, I'd have to get 2, plus the normal person is only going to see the tree & wonder why I have a tree on my back. Not that I am putting it where anyone will be able to see it, just when I bend over or forget that the shirt I'm wearing rides up when I reach for the top shelf.

SO who has ink? Anyone answered this quandry for themselves? Any pros or cons? Quick before she drags me kicking & screamin' "wait I don't have a plan yet...."

Random posting...

It has been a few days since I've blogged!  We have been fighting the flu here, one at a time.  The process has taken a week & thankfully I was the last & unfortunately for everyone else the least affected.  I just felt nasty, everyone else was worse than nasty.  I spent 2 days doing laundry to clean up from the Princess.  It was her first real vomiting illness so trying to get her to stay in one spot was a challenge.

I have stripped my couch cushions, steam cleaned the carpet, washed every blanket & sheet that was on the couch or in her room... I do so love to do laundry!

I did manage to plant my flower box & front garden.  I am going to my Mom's later to cut some pachysandra  to plant in my other front garden.  Right now it is a mess of weed & one lonely rose bush (just planted it so more like rose stub!).   We went to the local green house & bought some petunias, a Vinca vine & some cherry tomato plants (for the princess).  One of my neighbors had a stand out with primroses & Gerbera daisies, so I bought one of each of those.  Now I just need to go to my "guy" and get some hanging baskets, then the front will be complete, at least for this year.  DH wants to buy some trees, but we don't agree on the kind of tree.

Not a whole lot of sewing going on at the moment.  I did manage to cut out for a canvas shopping tote & I have the fabric pre washed & shrunk (my former boss was right about the 20% shrinkage, Glad I didn't sew first!)  I probably should have washed it before I cut it.  I think it is going to be smaller than I was hoping for.

I've been trying to make a list of my upcoming or overdue projects so I can fit them in with my "need to do" projects

  • Mixer Cover for Grandma

  • curtain tabs for sister

  • shirt dress for Princess

  • finish lunch bag for DH (hem & Velcro)

  • canvas tote

  • Irish chain - camo quilt, finish top then quilt

  • T-shirt quilt - back

  • red& white tutu

  • My sister's swing canopy (still waiting on measurements & fabric)

  • handbag for me (recycling pair of pants that I love but will most likely never fit me again)

We have a baseball game tonight, I am working the snack stand!  Love it.  I'll probably have to run the register, since I am usually the only one with experience at it...   Not that I mind, I am missing the retail interaction a little, especially now that we'd be going full swing this weekend if we were opening...  So I miss it a little, but come July when it is nice out & I am floating in our pool instead of scooping ice cream & mopping goo every 5 minutes I'll be happy with our decision to not reopen!

I am going to try not to be too censorious this weekend.  I'd love to make up for all the work that didn't get done while we were sick, but it is a HOLIDAY after all!

I am loving Qumana!  I'm still working out the category thing & I have to add pictures online, but it's still pretty cool!

Prayers for Heather

Virtual Flower Graphics

I found Heather through the blog party at 5 Minutes for Mom. She is having surgery Thursday on a tumor in her brain. She has been blogging about it, so all the details are at her blog. I admire her strength and pray that I could react with the same grace in such a situation. There is a prayer chain going at Living in Grace. All the time slots are filled but if you wish to show your support or give enchouragement feel free.

Wiping Sleeves???

Rocks in My Dryer has a post about Sheryl Crow's new endeavor to save trees. Wether you are "Green" or not you'll get a chuckle, if not from the article, then from the comments! It's a good read!

I can say that she must NOT do her own laundry!!!

American Idol & Lost???

Not to jump on a bandwagon here, but I can't contain myself!!!

I will say, I didn't vote, I don't usually vote. I think we might have voted for Chris Daughtery once or twice, & I think we got through for Bo Bice once, but usually it is too big of a pain to keep dialing, don't have a cell to text from...That said...

I have no idea how to say ... I am shocked & yet not surprised at the same time. I can't believe that Sanjaya wasn't even in the bottom 3! Did people think Simon was being serious? I got the sarcasm, was it sooooo subtle. His last performance was vocally bad & I've seen better High school musicals, heck I've been IN better High school musicals... I get it, he's cute & entertaining, but Idol is supposed to be a singing competition. Didn't they say that OVER & OVER during auditions.

Then to sit through another weird LOST & I am left feeling way to unrelaxed. Although Hurley trying to get Sawyer to kiss the baby was hysterical! Is it me or are they leaving more unanswered questions than they are answering? Locke? the whole connectedness of the survivors is CRAZY... It's like you expect to see Kevin Bacon show up...

Tackle it Tuesday! #4

Tackle It Tuesday Meme

This may seem like a strange tackle to most, however it was nagging me, due to our current former & current tenant situation. They continually complained about the strom door not latching. So finally yesterday it was nice enough to venture out & take a look. Well I can tell you that it looked like someone had ripped the door frame off & then reattached it BADLY. ~I painted the door trim in 2005 so paint was newish & could tell it had been moved form where it was when I painted~ So the door now latches & I have more pics to take to court with me.

This is the window that was cracked by the former tenants junk being pushed into it (her ex dropped off an organ one day & left it on the porch, well needless to say I wasn't letting them put it upstairs, so it sat on the porch until they removed it this weekend):

And this is the porch railing that was fine in January, last time we shoveled off the steps & now is falling apart (after the former tenant moved her stuff out).

That isn't all I did this weekend, but today I am tackling my house! You can tell that I haven't been focusing on housework, eeek!

I just discovered You Can Make This. I can't wait to get some $ in my paypal, so I can order!!! I am looking to make the Princess some really cute summer outfits.

What 2004 hit song are you?

Ok, I am way to amused with the blogthing!!!

I Believe In a Thing Called Love by The Darkness

"I wanna kiss you every minute, every hour, every day
You got me in a spin but everythin' is A.OK!"

You played it cheesy and campy in 2004, but you know how to rock out.

Weird & Wacky Wednesday!

Ok, so as I am folding laundry the Princess runs off with my Extreme Cleavage Full-Figure Bra from Frederick's of Hollywood & is running around the room wearing it as a vest... I should start a blog titled "adventures from planet what the...?" I wouldn't have to write a thing, just follow her around all day with the camera...

Well, I am off to preform my Anti procrastination Wednesday task, because I flaked on Tackle it Tuesday! I am doing laundry, putting away already washed & washing the pile I "forgot" was in the corner of the laundry room!

I am going to sew today!

It is 5 degrees here with a wind chill of -12. so I am taking a small heater down with me, but the kiddos are gone for a while & I am going to get something accomplished!

DH got the basement area outside my room cleared up, everything put into storage that needed to be (fall & Christmas decor, empty boxes, & misc stuff...) So I am going to go & rearrange my room, since he stole my shelving unit (OK he had my permission) so now I have to go clear off my tables & put everything on the permanent shelves.

I'll try & get something done with picture!

Happy Sewing!

I am...

I am a baby girl born to two teenagers on December 24 the who, thankfully had the brains to give me up to 2 lovely people.

I am the toddler whose only memories from preschool invlove boys chasing me & a big kid breaking my pinky with a tinker toy.

I am the school girl who bit her tongue doing a flip on the bar over the slide, causing the school nurse to freak out, me getting 4 stitches & no more old playground. Sorry & you are welcome all at the same time, because the new playground was much cooler!

I am the teenager who was shall we say rebellious, sure why not! More like her genetic parents than her adopted parents cared to think about. Then meeting "Mr. Right" at 16 & never looking back. (ok, well only sometimes looking back, it has been 17 years after all, yikes)

I am the girl walking down the isle at 20, because she wanted to. Finding a path that was not really hers, but still feeling strangly comfortable.

I am the woman whose water broke on her 5th anniversary in the bathroom of a Ruby Tuesday's, then had to sit for a 30 minute car ride to the hospital with dh's best friend (male) patting me on the shoulder telling me I'm doing fine (did I say single male). To finally after 6 hours of slightly drugged labor give birth to a 9 pound baby boy.

I am the woman whose water didn't break, and had to endure a 10 minute ride at 1:45 AM to the hospital (15 we had to drop the Prince off) feeling like I was going to die, to be handed a specimin cup & a gown. Watching the PA stare at me with a deer-in-the-headlights glare & finally having the Dr. show up & say ok push, giving birth to a "veiled" 8 pound 11 oz baby girl (for those keeping up that would be 20 minutes tops at the hospital) "Veiled" meaning she delivered with the placenta, don't ask me I was in too much pain to care. Did I mention they still charged me full price...

I am the woman who MADE her husband go get fixed, because I did not want to have to check into the hospital a week before my due date, just so I could be there & avoid a home birth.

I am the woman who still has no idea what she wants to be when she grows up. But I do know that I want to be the best Mom I can be, so at least I have goals!!!
